Border collie works for free

“Let’s go see the babies,” Carmen Breedlove announces and a blur of black and white bounds toward the back of the store.

Rye, a 3-year-old border collie, then stands vigil over a tub of cheeping ducklings at Orscheln Farm and Home.

“He watches them closely,” said Breedlove, an assistant manager at the store. “If any get out, he’ll come and get me.”
