Riding to fight cancer

PEDALING THROUGH: A group of college students, known as Team Portland, pedaled through Gothenburg Friday on a trek from Baltimore, MD, to Portland, OR, which is approximately 4,500 miles. Each year, they journey across the United States, offering hope, inspiration and support to cancer communities along the way. The 70-day ride started June 5, with the group hoping to end the ride on Aug. 13. Each cyclist raises $4,500 before the trip to support young adults affected by cancer. The group averages 70 miles a day and participants stay in churches, YMCAs, gyms or campgrounds. 4K for Cancer is a program of the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.
