Monday morning accident

STORE DAMAGED: For the second time in 10 years, a vehicle hit Peterson's Supermarket. The crashed into the building Monday, causing an estimated $25,000 in damage to the building.

Police chief Randy Olson said the driver of the vehicle, 58-year-old Deb Kreis of Gothenburg, said she didn’t know what happened when the 2005 Buick LeSabre she was driving went into the west side of Peterson’s. Olson said the vehicle was northbound on Avenue D and turned right into the first angled parking stall. Olson said the car suddenly accelerated, jumped the curb and crashed into the building. When he checked the vehicle, Olson said cruise control was on although he said it’s unknown if that’s what caused the crash. Neither Kreis or store personnel were injured. Damage to the Kreis car is estimated at $2,500. To view more photos, click on “Photos” in the navigation bar.
