Cornhusking contest returns to Harvest Festival after 17 year absence

This year’s Gothenburg Harvest Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever, with the return of an event that has been missing from the line-up for nearly 20 years. Gothenburg will once again be hosting Nebraska’s statewide cornhusking contest, which was last held in the city in 1999.

For the past few years Nebraska’s contest has been held in Nebraska City, but Gothenburg’s resident cornhusking expert, Roland Lauer, began a push last year to bring the event back here.
