Rotary seeks area professionals for exchange to India
Rotary International organizes Group Study Exchanges with Rotary districts all over the world.
Nagpur, in central India, is the destination for this year’s Western Nebraska Rotary District 5630 GSE Team. Enthusiastic young professionals who are not Rotarians are invited to apply to be part of this goodwill exchange between western Nebraska and a Rotary district in central India.
Four individuals who are non-Rotarians will be selected to participate in a Rotary “Group Study Exchange” from Jan. 13 to Feb. 13, 2011. A GSE team from India will visit Nebraska in March and April.
The purpose of a Group Study Exchange is to promote international understanding and goodwill through person-to-person contact. While in India, GSE team members will stay in Rotarians’ homes and have the opportunity to meet their professional counterparts. They will also give presentations to Rotary clubs and other groups about the USA and Nebraska.
The Rotary Foundation provides a round-trip air ticket, and Rotarians in India provide meals, lodging and group travel in their district. Team members pay for personal and incidental expenses. While the trip runs through Feb. 13, participants may extend their stay at their own expense.
Persons interested in applying should be employed full-time in a recognized business or profession. Persons within the age range 25 to 40 are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must live or be employed in Rotary District 5630, Grand Island to Wyoming. For an application form, go to www.rotary.org/ridocuments/en_doc/161en.doc
Each applicant must be endorsed by a Rotary Club. Applicants will be interviewed and GSE Team members will be selected on Sunday Sept. 19 in North Platte.
