Golfers finish eighth at Meadowlark Hills
Henke: Results were typical for first meet.
KEARNEY—Inconsistent ball striking resulted in mounting frustration for the Gothenburg girls golf team in the opening meet of the season at Kearney on Thursday.
The Swedes finished eighth as a team at the Kearney Catholic Invite with a score of 481.
Grand Island Central Catholic, with five medalists, took the team title with 358.
“The results of this first meet were fairly typical,” said Swede coach Jim Henke.

The senior was just three strokes out of medal contention.
Teahon came in two strokes back with a 115 total while Matthies carded 118.
The other three Swedes, Saraid Baca, Tiffani Maurer and Crystal Moore played in their first-ever 18-hole event.

The newcomers scored 135, 156 and 168 respectively.
Danielle Lemek of Doniphan-Trumbull was the meet medalist with a score of 72, 11 strokes better than second-place finisher McKenna Kime of Grand Island Central Catholic.
