Relay fund-raisers ready are underway
The Relay For Life fund-raising season is in full gear with events planned across Dawson County for this year’s effort to raise $90,000 for the American Cancer Society.
At the last report, Relay For Life participants and corporate sponsors have brought in more than $15,000.
The 17th Annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Dawson County will be Friday, July 29, at Haymaker Stadium in Cozad. Twenty teams have registered to participate. For more information, contact April Headley, event chairperson, at 308-529-3659.

New in 2011
First Annual 2-Person Scramble Golf Tournament will be Saturday, June 18, at Cozad Country Club. Eighteen holes of golf for $100 registration fee per team will include lunch, green fees and cart. Registration is 8-9 a.m. with a 9:30 tee-off. Flight, hole and hole-in-one prizes will be awarded. Sign up at Cozad Country Club or call Troy at 308-380-5334. Reggie Shaw Concert will be Saturday, June 18, 7 p.m. at Cozad High School Auditorium. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7.50 at the door. Advance tickets are available from The Church Ladies Relay For Life team members or at Barmore Drug in Lexington, Drive-In Video in Cozad or Sander Furniture in Gothenburg. First Annual Classic Cars For A Cure will be Saturday, June 25, at Ehmen Park in Gothenburg. First 100 entries will receive a Dash Plaque. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the show will be 12 noon to 4 p.m. Trophies will be awarded to the top cars and “Mayor’s Choice.” Relay For Life teams will provide entertainment, door prizes, food vendors, games and other fund-raisers. Plum Creek Rodeo Concessions will be served by The Mighty Oaks Relay For Life team on June 10 and 11 at the Dawson County Fairgrounds in Lexington. Hamburgers, hot dogs, pop and water is on the menu during the Annual Plum Creek Rodeo. Contact team captain Rhonda Hanson at 308-537-3139.
