Celebration takes village ‘Back to the Future’

LEADING THE WAY: The Johnson family of Brady was collectively honored as grand marshal for the annual Brady Days parade hosted by the Lions Club Saturday morning. They were carried on a wagon driven by Terry Grasz.

Six generations of the family have left their mark on the community. Winners in the five parade divisions were: Babes in Toyland, commercial; Brady United Methodist Church, non-profit; Lincoln County Sheriff’s Posse, animals; Randy Dishman, wheels; Rhythm Nation Dance Team, miscellaneous.

PULLING HIS WEIGHT: Tug-of-war participant Todd Roe leans back with a mighty heave during the Brady Days pulling contest at Palmer Park Saturday afternoon. Roe, a Brady resident, was a member of the Bloedorn Lumber team that was challenged to participate in the tug-of-war along with other businesses and individuals. A five-member team from Consolidated won the competition against five other teams.

PRINCESS LEYHA: Leyha Bartels served as the grand marshal for the kids parade, leading the way for “Rockin’ Into the Future.”

WET & WILD: Drew Solie flips the ball backward across the net during mud volleyball at Palmer Park. Awaiting the play are, l-r: Corbin Blede, Lincoln Blede and Ryan Porter. The team of Cole Viter, Zach Mann and Bryley Roper took first place in the 19-team tournament.
