Holsten repeats as Wild Horse club champion

Jeff Holsten of Gothenburg retains his title as men’s club champion at Wild Horse Golf Club after the 2012 tournament which concluded Sunday.

Holsten shot 36 on the front nine and was steady with another 36 on the back to finish the 18-hole tournament with a gross total of 72.

He was also the club champion in 2011 and 2009.

Mike Nichols finished a close second shooting 38 on the front and coming back with a 35 to wrap up a 73 total.

Adam Aden was third in first flight with 76.

Dan Yancy and Jake Peden tied at the top of the second flight, each carding 75. Yancy took the top prize with a 67 net score, compared with Peden’s 70 net.

In the third flight, Karl Randecker shot the low score of 84 to take first. Second-place finisher was Gregg Anderson.

Jay Matzke carded 91 to win the fourth flight with Tim Peterson placing second in the group with 93.

The silver tee flight was won by Gary Fritch with scores of 39 and 39 for a 78 total. Doug Larson and Steve Johnson tied for second in the silver flight with 80.

A total of 44 men competed in the 18-hole club championship. There was no women’s tournament.
