Early-afternoon accident

One injured: A two-car collision, in the intersection of 11th Street and Avenue F on March 27, sent a local woman to the hospital. Joan Brand, the driver of a 2009 Buick Enclave, was taken by Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department volunteers to Gothenburg Memorial Hospital for tests and observation, according to local police chief Randy Olson. The accident happened at 1:15 p.m. Olson said Brand was northbound on Avenue F when she said she blacked out and entered the intersection where her vehicle struck a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by 20-year-old Heather Williams of North Platte. Williams, who was driving east on 11th Street, was uninjured. Olson estimated damage to the Enclave at $3,500 and $2,000 to the Monte Carlo.
