Students honored in Duke TIP

Ten Gothenburg seventh graders were recently honored for outstanding achievement on the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) test.

Ali Bartels, Hannah Boyd, Arleigh Costello, Madison Coulter, Patrick Hudson, Emma Jorgenson, Jocelyn Kennicutt, Kori Kowalewski, Noah Larson and Aaron Whiting were invited to attend a state recognition ceremony at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln May 14.

Each year, Duke TIP hosts at least one state recognition ceremony in each of the states with the largest talent search enrollments, which includes Nebraska, to honor seventh grade students who meet the state level qualifying score criteria.

The ceremony is similar to a graduation ceremony, with a keynote speaker, and honorees are called on stage to receive a commemorative medal.

To be invited to the state ceremony, the students were invited to take the ACT and met at least one of the following criteria: English ≥ 20, math ≥ 20, reading ≥ 21, science ≥ 21 or had three of the following scores: English,19; math, 19, reading, 20; and science, 20.
