Historic Brady figures from the past portrayed
Saturday event draws large crowd to school
A non-walking tour of forgotten individuals from Brady’s past entertained a large audience in the school gymnasium Saturday afternoon during Brady Days.
Bryan Hecox portrayed William Winterbottom, editor of the Vindicator, and CeeCee Polt acted as favorite kindergarten teacher Doris McCollough.
Donnie Trisdale became Gov. Roy Cochran, DeeAnn Birkle portrayed Mary Francis McCollough Riley, pioneer of Brady Island and nurse; Ray Blede became math genius Johnny Fredrickson, Molly Rundel acted like Neva Brittenham in “I Remember Mama” and Bonnie Glo Aubushon, Brady Hotel Madam “Naughty Glow,” rounded out the list of characters.
Many tables of historical memorabilia were displayed as well as “Miles, Memories and Meals,” a Brady cookbook created by the Brady Beauties.
The Brady Beauties will autograph their cookbook on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 1-3 p.m. at the A to Z Book Store in North Platte.
Cookbooks can also be picked up at the following Brady businesses—Maureen’s Kitchen, Gothenburg State Bank (Brady), Village of Brady and Roberta’s.
The public is reminded that a tax-deductible donation to the Brady School Foundation can be still be made by writing a check to Mid-NE Community Foundation. Donors are asked to write in their check memo the “Brady School Foundation.”
The Lincoln County Historical Museum will take any artifacts from individuals who want to donate or loan to the museum to preserve Brady History.
