Swedes win Bow Invite

Gothenburg rolled into the Broken Bow Invite on a 15-game win streak and extended it after beating Doniphan-Trumbull and Valentine Oct. 22.

The Swedes started the day off with a two-set 25-22, 25-16 win over the Cardinals.

Assistant coach Jim Clark said the main focus of the invite was keeping the girls focused.

“We knew Doniphan had some good outside hitters,” Clark said. “We put a lot of pressure on them and they didn’t attack back.”

In the match, seniors Regan Geiken and Taylor Mroczek led the team with eight kills each. Tiani Reeves pitched in seven kills.

The three girls combined for 23 of the team’s 27 kills.

Gothenburg played Valentine in the championship match and made quick work of the Badgers sweeping them 25-11, 25-21.

The Swedes collected 28 kills led by Reeves’ nine.

Aryn Meisinger contributed seven kills along with four aces.

Gothenburg extended its win streak to 17 games.
