Industrial site road priority in plan

A road to the Gothenburg Improvement Company’s undeveloped industrial site tops the city’s one- and six-year road plan.

The road, yet to be developed in the East Industrial Park in the southeast part of town, was on the 2013 plan as it will be in 2014.

Gothenburg City Council members approved the one- and six-year road plan (see box) at their Nov. 19 meeting following a public hearing at which no one spoke.

Clymer said city officials want to bid the industrial site project in January or February.

The estimated cost of the road is $426,500 with the installation of sewer and other infrastructure priced at $869,500.

That amount, coupled with $129,600 for contingencies and $174,105 in engineering and other costs, total nearly $1.6 million.

Two grants, and sales tax money, will help pay for the road and infrastructure.

Approval of a one- and six-year road plan is done each year so the city can receive highway allocation funds.

Projects don’t have to be completed to receive the money but cities must have plans in place.
