Mooberry’s resignation accepted; roads superintendent position open

Dawson County roads superintendent Jon Mooberry has resigned for personal reasons.

In a Dawson County Commissioners meeting Friday, Mooberry’s letter of resignation was accepted and was immediately effective.

Mooberry took over as roads superintendent in January of 2012.

An interim engineer will be hired as needed at a rate of $95 to $170 per hour until the position can be filled full time.

In other business, Mooberry recommended that commissioners sign an agreement with Miller & Associates Consulting Engineers of Kearney for the observations and inspection of the Hammond Bridge replacement project east of Lexington.

The project will begin as soon as weather permits contractors to proceed.

On another matter, an interlocal agreement between Dawson County and Gage County was approved for contracted inmates.

The contract allows inmates to be transported to Dawson County Jail from the Gage County Jail and vice versa.

Dawson County currently houses 10-15 prisoners from Gage County.

In other business, commissioners approved a letter to be sent to the Berean Fundamental Church in Lexington to terminate a lease between the church and the Community Economic Development Building. The county no longer uses a portion of the church’s parking lot.

The lease ends July 1, 2015.
