GHS coronation activities this week
Crowning after Friday basketball game.
Students at Gothenburg High School will be getting ready to send the Valentine Badgers back to their wildlife sanctuary.
A week of special activities with that theme is scheduled through Friday with coronation and a dance set for that night.
Every day this week has a special theme for students.
Monday was a day to dress like the 80s to kick the Badgers back that far. On Tuesday, students were asked to wear super hero of villain clothing to “save the sanctuary and get rid of Badger pride.”
On Wednesday, students wore camouflage clothes because the Swedes are hunting Badgers. Thursday’s theme encourages students to wear NASCAR grab so they won’t “run over the Badgers and get rabies by driving” a super-fast car.
Friday is “make a rainbow over the Badger stomping grounds by classes wearing the following colors: seventh—denim blue, eighth—plaid, ninth—pink, 10th—brown, 11th—black and 12th—white.
Candidates for coronation king and queen are seniors Michelle Jack, Tabitha Paul, Elizabeth Graham, Zac Franzen, Joel Teahon and Patrick Reeves.
Royalty will be crowned during a ceremony following the basketball games Friday against Valentine.
Each high school grade also elected representatives for the coronation ceremony. They are freshmen Jacey Wiggins and Logan Sheets, sophomores Leah Schwanz and Korey Ahlenstorf and juniors Abby Ambler and Tre Ostergard.
The coronation dance will be in the Dudley Elementary gym Friday night from 9:30 p.m. to midnight. Doors close at 10 p.m.
Students are asked to sign up out-of-town dates by Thursday. Seniors wishing to be in the ceremony lineup are asked to provide information in the office by Wednesday at 1 p.m.
