Meal, auction to benefit Bartels
Brady 3-year-old fighting cancer.
A sloppy joe feed and auction at the Brady Community Center on Saturday will raise money to help pay medical expenses for 3-year-old Leyha Bartels.
Leyha, daughter of Catherine Stewart and Jason Bartels of Brady, has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of cancer which has settled in her bones.
She has been receiving treatments at the Children’s Hospital in Omaha and the family will continue to make regular trips back and forth for more treatments for the next six months.
Saturday’s benefit, hosted by Becky Bartels, will include a free-will donation meal, bake sale, piggy bank contest, raffle, live auction and entertainment provided by Shelter Reality, a traveling drum group.
The meal will be served beginning at 5 p.m. followed by the auction and raffle.
Raffle items include a variety of gift certificates for food and services. Items range from a movie rental or afghan to a complete car detailing package.
There is something for everyone at the auction from gift baskets, produce and art to clothing items and even a live pig.
To make a donation for the event or to contribute to the benefit, contact Becky Bartels at 308-650-0330.
