Robert Aden, 90 - July 01, 2013Robert “Bob” G. Aden, 90, of Chappell, originally of Gothenburg, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Miller Memorial Care Center of Chappell.
Services were conducted on Saturday, July 6, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chappell with the Rev. Daniel Larson officiating. Burial took place at the Chappell Cemetery.
Aden was born Dec. 13, 1922, to John G. and Elizabeth (Lambertus) Aden at Gothenburg. He was baptized into the Christian faith on Feb. 4, 1923, in Gothenburg.
He moved with his family to Chappell in 1926 where he was later confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church. He graduated from Deuel County High School in 1940.
In 1941, he moved to Burbank, CA, and was employed with Lockheed Aircraft Corporation until joining the U.S. Navy in March of 1943, serving during World War II in the Pacific Campaign until his honorable discharge in March of 1946.
Aden was united in marriage to Leah M. Schwarz on Dec. 15, 1946, at Fairbury, by his wife’s father, the Rev. Benedict Schwarz. To this union, two children were born.
?He and his wife resided at Chappell and were part owners in the Aden’s IGA Grocery Store until their retirement in 1982.
?Aden was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Elizabeth; his step-father, Ehme Aden; a brother, Chet; sisters—Gertrude and Marjorie.
Survivors include: his wife, Leah of Chappell; his daughter, Charlotte (Ron) Kafka of Lincoln; a son, Tim (Barb) Aden of Sun City West, AZ; brother, Boyd W. Aden of Chappell; grandsons—Andrew (Katie) Kafka and Adam (Tiffany) Kafka, all of Lincoln; several great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Zion Lutheran Church and the Miller Memorial Care Center, or donor’s choice.
