Emma Pat Miller, 82 - November 28, 2013Emma Pat Miller, 82, of Lakewood, CO, originally of Gothenburg, passed away Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at Lakewood.
Graveside services will take place on Jan. 4, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery north of Gothenburg.
Miller was born Christmas Day on Dec. 25, 1930, to Henry and Dora (Rathe) Miller at Gothenburg.
She grew up on the Miller family farm northwest of Gothenburg and attended Gothenburg schools, and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
In the 1960s, she moved to Cheyenne, WY, and worked at the once popular truck stop, the Hitching Post. She later moved to Denver, CO, where she was employed at the brewery.
When Miller was in her 70s, she worked as an agency carrier for the Denver newspaper where she was still able to toss a newspaper from her car window onto the subscriber’s porch, said family members.
Miller moved to Littleton, CO, to the Libby Bortz Assisted Living Center when her health began to fail. She made numerous friends with the residents and employees, family said.
She then moved to the Allison Care Center in Lakewood where she spent her final days.
Miller had a love for horses as well as for her favorite actor, John Wayne, according to family members. She also enjoyed cross-stitching and living by the mountains.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Henry and Dora; two sisters—Ellen and Mildred; six brothers—Henry, Alfred, Siebolt, Reinhold, Harold and Richard; sisters-in-law—Dorothy, Marjorie, Ilene, Beverly and Doris; a brother-in-law, Don Ringenberg.
Survivors include: a sister-in-law, Evelyn Miller; numerous nieces and nephews.
