Raymond Raetz, 54 - August 29, 2014

Raymond “Ray” Reed Raetz, 54, of Gothenburg died Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Park View Villa in Gothenburg.
Services were conducted at Fort McPherson National Cemetery on Tuesday, Sept. 2, with the Rev. Larry Viter officiating. Interment took place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
Raetz was born March 1, 1960, at Gothenburg, the only child of Fredrick “Fritz” Martin and Marie Alwilda Raetz.
He graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1978, and lived his entire life in the Gothenburg area.
During his younger years, he was a member of an area dance band, and had an interest in old cars.
Music was his love, according to family members. He sang and was especially gifted in playing the piano by ear, often playing to entertain groups as well as elderly citizens at various locations.
?Raetz also loved attending all school activities including sports and the arts, the family said.
?He was a member of the United Methodist Church, where on occasion, he would sing with the choir.
?Raetz was preceded in death by: his father, Fredrick “Fritz” Martin Raetz; his mother, Marie Alwilda Raetz.
Survivors include: an aunt, Verna Derderian,of Mundelein, IL; and numerous cousins.
