Eldon Eugene Brittenham, 81 - September 23, 2014

Eldon Eugene Brittenham, 81, of Moorefield/Brady, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
Services took place at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Friday, Sept. 26, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Viter officiating. Interment was at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
Brittenham was born May 1, 1933, at Maxwell, the son of Jake and Mildred (Heath) Brittenham. He attended Jeffery Queen School and graduated from Maxwell High School with the Cass of 1951.
He served his country with the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed with L.A. Kelley, owner of the North Platte Telegraph, on his farm.
Brittenham married Shirley Johnson on Dec. 31, 1953. To this union, three sons were born.
He and his family moved to Cozad in 1963 where he worked for the alfalfa mill until it closed in 1973. He then bought out his father’s cows and land and began to manage the family homestead, and also worked for Lincoln County, operating a maintainer.
Brittenham was preceded in death by: his parents, Jake and Mildred Brittenham; two brothers—Wayne (Darlene) and Floyd Brittenham; a sister, Edith (Ralph) Johnston.
?Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Shirley Brittenham; his three sons—Dale (Vivian) Brittenham of Lincoln, Rick (Cathy) Brittenham of North Platte, and Lynn (Missy) Brittenham of Moorefield; six grandsons—Jeff (Becky) Brittenham, Erik Brittenham, Evan (Beth) Brittenham, Seth (Amanda) Brittenham, Austin (Lonna) Brittenham and Jacob Brittenham; three granddaughters—Leslie (Michael) Brestel, Becka (Jaryd Cabriles) Brittenham and Holly Brittenham; two great-grandsons—Cameron and Nathan; sisters-in-law—Maxine Brittenham of North Platte and LaVonne Rowson of Fulton, MO.
