Velma Romatzke, 98 - September 23, 2014

Velma M. Romatzke, 98, of Eustis passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Cozad Community Hospital.
Services took place on Saturday, Sept. 27, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Eustis with Kathy Gundell officiating. Burial was at the East Cemetery.
Romatzke was born Sept. 4, 1916, to Gottlob and Kate (Uebele) Schultheiss north of Eustis.
She started school at Plum Creek District No. 51 through the eighth grade and then attended Eustis High School, graduating with the Class of 1934.
On Nov. 16, 1936, she married Fred Romatzke. To this union, three children were born. The couple resided on a farm 12 miles south of Eustis. In 1973, she and her husband moved to town.
Romatzke was employed as a nurse’s aid at the Cozad Hospital for over 25 years. She also worked at H and J Grocery Store.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eustis and has been a faithful and devoted member. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Romatzke enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her family and friends, family members said.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Fred in 1976; a son, Kenny; brother, Myron Schultheiss.
?Survivors include: her two daughters—Glenny (Kermit) Lee and Denise Romatzke, all of Eustis; daughter-in-law, Karen of Cozad; four grandchildren—LaTonia (Matt) Lindekugel, Shelley (Kelly) Sheets, Donica (Mark) Heineman and Lisa (Jeff) Barnes; 10 great-grandchildren—Skylar, Emma and Shawn Lindekugel, Braylen and Brogan Sheets, Jayla and Quinton Heineman, Isabella, Tregan and Tatem Barnes; special friend, Nancy Laier; numerous other relatives.
Memorials are suggested to the Eustis Fire and Rescue and St. John’s Lutheran Church, or donor’s choice.
