Morris Devine, 90 - November 29, 2014

Morris Devine, 90, of Gothenburg died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at Gothenburg.
Services will be conducted at Zion Lutheran Church on Friday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Carol Mapa officiating. Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Gothenburg.
A visitation will take place at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 1 to 8 p.m. with family members present from 5 to 7 p.m.
Devine was born June 12, 1924, at Farnam, the son of Albert Devine and Rebecca (Hilton) Devine.
He grew up in the Farnam and Cozad area and graduated from Cozad High School.
On Jan. 29, 1945, he married Cora Gray. To this union, four children were born.
Devine and his wife resided north of Cozad until moving north of Gothenburg to his wife’s family land. They worked hard making the land into their home of 67 years.
He spent his life farming and ranching north of Gothenburg and had a special place in his heart for Hereford cattle.
Devine was a member of a bowling league and also of Walnut Grove Baseball and Sod Busters Softball, and kept his love of baseball throughout his lifetime. His kids, grandkids and great-grandkids were very important to him, according to family members.
He was also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was very strong in his faith, raising his family the same way. He was a member of the church council and Lutheran Brotherhood.
?Devine was preceded in death by: his wife, Cora on Aug. 20, 2012; his parents, Albert and Rebecca Devine; brothers—Gilbert, Dale and Loren; granddaughter, Markie Rae; daughter-in-law, Charlene Devine.
Survivors include: his three sons—Ron Devine, Brad (Jackie) Devine and Tim (Roxie) Devine; his daughter, Linda (Nick) Swan; 11 grandchildren—Kelli (Rod) Mattson, Kristi (Fred) Wilson, Charity Hilton, Andy (Holly) Devine, Carla Devine, Dusty (Amy) Devine, Jake (Janell) Ritz, Luke Ritz, Timarie Devine, Mandy (Brett) Eddie and Tyler (Ainsley) Swan; 18 great-grandchildren—Colter, Chaleigh, Cadie, Emma, Brody, Kylie, Andrew, Tyler, Jacob, Ethan, Kennedy, Cooper, Kharissa, Kael, Karryn, Emery, Jaxon and Drake; brother, Wayne (Norma) Devine; sister-in-law, Kelva Devine; Numerous extended family members.
