Robert Kruse, 93 - January 19, 2015

Robert Royal Kruse, 93, of Brady, formerly of Farnam, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at his daughter’s home near Brady.
Services will be at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Friday, Jan. 23, at 1:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
A visitation will be conducted at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 1 to 7:30 p.m. with family members present from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Kruse was born July 1, 1921, at Gothenburg to John and Wilbke (Franzen) Kruse. He graduated from Gothenburg High School, and was confirmed in 1939 at Zion Lutheran Church by the Rev. Duis.
He served his country with the United States Army 23rd Infantry from August 1942 to December 1945, serving in England, Germany and France. He earned a Bronze Star, Oak Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Battle Stars, (Ardennes Rhineland, Central Europe) and Carbine Marksman. He graduated from Aviation School in 1943.
On Aug. 20, 1950, he married Ruth Schrodt at Cromwell, IA. The couple made their home on a farm site north of Farnam. In 1962, they moved to the present home site north of Cozad.
During his lifetime, he was employed along with his wife, farming and raising cattle.
He especially enjoyed going to the senior dances and his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family members said.
Kruse had lived the past three years with his daughter, Barb and family, near Brady.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
?Kruse was preceded in death by: his wife, Ruth in 2006; his brothers—William, Herbert, Bernard, George, Floyd and Lester Kruse; two sisters—Alice Kruse and Esther (Kruse) Foster; a great-grandson, Mickale Rosner; nephew, Donald Kruse.
Survivors include: his daughter, Barbara (Ken) Stevens of Brady; six grandchildren—Jeremyah and children, Justin and Jaya, Jolene (Chris) Morris and children, Alyssa, Morgan and Elias, all of Cozad, Tiffiny (Melissa) of Iowa and children, Alec, Emily and Ian, Darby (Nikki) and children Alexandria, Mariah, Aroque, Alijah, Jayden and Ashton of Brady, LaDonna (Jeff) Brock and boys Ty (Sariad), great-great-granddaughter Brinlye, Dade and Dakin of Gothenburg and Rebecca (Jeremy) Bartels and girls, Harley and Preslee of Brady; a sister, Mildred (Luverne) Gade of Pine Bluffs, WY; three sisters-in-law—Jerry (Carroll) Strader of Quartzsite, AZ, Velma Kruse of Bird City, KS, and Maxine Kruse of Parma, ID; a brother-in-law, Francis Schrodt of Pinellas Park, FL.
