Richard (Dick) Maslow, 85 - January 27, 2015

Richard E. “Dick” Maslow, 85, of Stockton, CA, husband of a Gothenburg native, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Stockton.
Maslow was born at Brooklyn, NY, to Louis and Helen (Danziger) Maslow. He attended the University of Idaho and Western New Mexico University on basketball scholarships, graduating from WNMU in 1954 with a degree in business education.
After serving with the Army Special Services during the Korean War, he completed a master’s degree in psychology at WNMU.
He taught and coached at Eddyville High School, where met Karen Olson in 1955, daughter of Walter and Mae Olson of Gothenburg.
Maslow and Olson were married in May of 1956 at the Olson family farm.
He and his wife then moved to Quincy, CA, in 1957, where he taught business classes and coached basketball at Quincy High from 1957 to 1962.
After taking graduate-level courses at the University of Arizona in 1962-63, he and his family moved to Stockton where he taught psychology classes at San Joaquin Delta College until his retirement in 1991.
?Maslow was an innovative instructor, textbook reviewer and basketball referee who expected of others the same dedication, drive and attention to detail he put forth in all that he did, family members said.
Survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Karen; his daughters—Troy (Michael) and Darcy; five grandchildren—Stefanie, Caroline, Clay, Carly and Evan.
