James (Jim) Russell Cover, 81 - February 17, 2015

James “Jim” Russell Cover, 81, of Cozad died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at Meadowlark Pointe in Cozad.
Services were conducted at the First Presbyterian Church, 819 E St., Cozad, on Saturday, Feb. 21, with the Rev. Karen Woo officiating. Burial took place at the Cozad Cemetery.
Cover was born Oct. 7, 1933, at Cozad, son of Victor and Edith (Winter) Cover. He grew up at Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School with the Class of 1951.
He served with the U.S. Army from Dec. 3, 1953, to Nov. 17, 1955.
On June 26, 1960, he married Virginia Meinberg at Seward. To this union, two children were born.
Cover was employed as a farmer and rancher. He enjoyed fishing, goose hunting and coffee time with his friends, according to family members.
He was a charter member of the Cozad Elks Lodge 2250 and a member of the Gothenburg VFW Post 64.
Cover was preceded in death by: his parents, Victor and Edith; his father and mother-in-law, Henry and Marie Meinberg; a niece, Cari Kadavy.
?Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Virginia Cover of Cozad; his daughter, Heidi Cover of Cozad; his son, James H. (Tami) Cover of Lincoln; two grandsons—Jimmie and Jacob Cover of Lincoln; three sisters—Mary Keller of Kearney, Judy (Tom) Maline of Holbrook and Sandy (Milan) Schneider of Gibbon; a brother, Bill (Audrey) Cover of Lexington; numerous nieces and nephews.
