Doris (Dotty) Davis, 80 - February 25, 2015

Doris “Dotty” Davis, 80, of Gothenburg died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
A private family service will be conducted at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
Davis was born July 5, 1934, at Athens, OH, to Orthe and Francis (Cook) Potts. She grew up and attended school in Port Clinton, OH.
She married Robert Davis on July 22, 1952, at her parents home in Port Clinton. To this union, four children were born.
Davis and her husband had resided at numerous places throughout the United States as her husband was serving with the U.S. Navy for over 30 years.
Following her husband’s retirement, the couple lived between Council Bluffs, IA, and the Gothenburg area until they moved back to Gothenburg in 2011.
She was active with children’s church programs from Sunday School to Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed baking, flower gardening and babysitting, according to family members.
Davis was preceded in death by: her parents, Orthe and Francis Potts; her two brothers—Delbert and Orthe, Jr; two sisters—Wanda Nichols and Wilma Smith.
Survivors include: her husband, Robert James Davis of Gothenburg; two sons—Jimmy Davis of Council Bluffs and Mark Davis of Jasper, MN; two daughters—Peggy Brayman of Gothenburg and Missy (Lynn) Brittenham of Moorefield; seven grandchildren—Chanda (Norman) Knight, Micah (Goldie) and Joe, all of Council Bluffs, Sarah of Clarksville, AR, Melanie of Jasper, MN, and Austin (Lonna), Holly, and Jacob of Moorefield; nine great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren; two sisters—Pattie (Emerson) Howell and Nola King, all of Port Clinton; sister-in-law, Ruth Sorenson of Council Bluffs; numerous nieces and nephews.
