Diann Kay Otterstad, 67 - May 10, 2015

Diann Kay Otterstad, 67, of Willow Island passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015, at her home in Willow Island.
Services will take place at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, May 13, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. James McCrickard officiating. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery.
Otterstad was born Nov. 23, 1947, at Osage, IA, daughter of George and Zada Erickson (Baker) Wirtjes.
She grew up west of Osage and attended grade school in Nora Springs, IA. In 1961, she moved to Mesa, AZ, and returned to Osage in 1965. She graduated from Osage High School in 1966.
On Aug. 28, 1966, she married Jerry Allen Otterstad at Elk Creek Lutheran Church in rural Kensett, IA. To this union, three children were born.
Otterstad and her family farmed and fed cattle at Joice, IA, until they purchased a feedlot near Cozad in 1971.
She enjoyed interior design, sewing and loved reading, although first love was her family, according to family members.
Otterstad was preceded in death by: her parents, George Wirtjes and Zada (Bernard) Erickson; her mother and father-in-law, Ida and Norris Otterstad.
Survivors include: her husband, Jerry of Willow Island; her son, Travis (Jill) of Tuttle, OK; two daughters—Tammy (Joe) Martinez of Tampa, FL, and Tarah Otterstad of Willow Island; three grandsons—Zachary, Jared and Justin Martinez of Tampa; a step-granddaughter, Tiffani Pruitt of Tuttle; sister, Shirley (Jon) Ell of San Tan Valley, AZ; four brothers—Marvin (Gail) Wirtjes Albia, IA, Delbert (Linda) Wirtjes of Sheffield, IA, Vern (Karen) Wirtjes and Dean (Gwana) Wirtjes, all of Hampton, IA; special friend, Diane Gohl of McCook.
Memorials are suggested to the Central Plain Hospice.
