Zachary A. Tompkins, 33 - July 08, 2015

Zachary A. Tompkins, 33, of Scottsbluff died Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
A memorial mass was celebrated on Saturday, July 11, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with the Rev. Mike McDonald officiating. A wake service was conducted on Friday evening at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Tompkins was born April 6, 1982, at Scottsbluff, the son of Daniel and Mary (Kicken) Tompkins. He grew up and received his education, graduating from Scottsbluff High School in 2000.
He was united in marriage to Leslie Winters on May 31, 2003, at Scottsbluff. The couple welcomed their son Nathan in 2005.
Tompkins attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK, from where he graduated with a commercial pilot’s license in 2007. He then moved to Kansas City, MO, where he worked for Air Associates of Kansas as an aerial mapper.
His hobbies included playing high school baseball, weather watching, fishing, astronomy, outdoors and traveling anywhere, according to family members. His most memorable trips were to France, Holland and Belgium with parents and grandparents.
Tompkins will be remembered for his humor, his love of family, his kindness and being a good father and loving husband, the family said.
He was preceded in death by his good friend, James Wolfe.
Survivors include: his wife, Leslie; his son, Nathan; parents, Daniel and Mary Tompkins; sister, Becky (David) Rosmann; brother-in-law, Aaron Winters and fiancé Sarah Moeser; grandparents—Margaret (Lucien) Kicken, Sharon (Wayne) Gunther and Don Tompkins; father and mother-in-law, Sam and Jenay Winters; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
