Laura Mae Humrich, 89 - July 15, 2015

Laura Mae Slack Humrich, 89, of Gothenburg passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
Celebration of Life services were conducted on Saturday, July 18, at Simmons-Rentschler Mortuary at Smith Center, KS, with the Rev. Lance McDowell officiating. Burial was at the Fairview Cemetery at Smith Center.
Humrich was born April 3, 1926, the daughter of Charles W. and Laura E. Read Slack at Kearney, the eighth child of 15.
She attended Kearney Public Schools and graduated from Kearney Senior High School in 1943.
On Feb. 5, 1944, she married Victor G. Humrich. The couple resided at Smith Center for over 56 years.
During her years at Smith Center, she was employed at various places. Her last place of employment before retirement was Huffman’s Floor Covering.
Her husband passed away July 15, 2000, and in 2002, she moved to Gothenburg to be closer to family. Due to failing health, she then moved to Hilltop Estates in November of 2014.
?Humrich loved her family and was proud to be one of 15, according to family members. She was loud and loved to joke and laugh. She was also a good bowler, and along with her teammates, won numerous trophies.
?She was preceded in death by: her parents, Charles and Laura; her husband, Victor; seven brothers—Chester, Charles, Donald, Merl, Earl, Ray and Riley; five sisters—Vera Tappan, Elnora Camp, Bertha Holt, Betty Eggers and Frances Honse.
Survivors include: her sister, Nancy Cox of Denver, CO; a brother, Roy (Elaine) Slack of Aurora, CO; three sisters-in-law—Arlene Slack of Kearney, Patricia Slack of Branson, MO, and Pamela Slack of Gothenburg; numerous nieces and nephews.
