Randy Dean Schroeder, 53 - July 15, 2015

Randy Dean Schroeder, 53, of Cozad passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Cozad Community Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, at the First Christian Church in Elm Creek with the Rev. Eric Most officiating. Burial will be at the Overton Cemetery.
A visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Chapel of Elm Creek. Family members request that those attending dress in casual attire.
Schroeder was born Feb. 14, 1962, at Kearney to Edward and Iva (Parks) Schroeder. He grew up and received his education at Elm Creek.
He was baptized at the First Christian Church of Elm Creek.
Schroeder was united in marriage to Kathy Hargett on April 7, 1990, at the First Christian Church in Elm Creek.
Throughout his life he drove a truck for several farmers and businesses in the central Nebraska area, and was also employed with All Points Cooperative each spring.
In 2000, he moved to Cozad where he worked for Geiger Farms until 2008. He continued to live on the farm and was its caretaker until the time of his death.
He was currently a member of The Crossing Fellowship of Gothenburg.
Schroeder never met a stranger and could always strike up a conversation with those around him, according to family members. He enjoyed collecting hats, attending family reunions and playing basketball and softball. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandson, Easton.
?He was preceded in death by: his parents, Edward and Iva; a sister and brother-in-law, Darlene (Roger) Johnston, Sr.; brother, Andrew Schroeder; nephew, Ryan Johnston.
Survivors include: his wife, Kathy of Cozad; a daughter, Molly (Landon) Ellison of Gothenburg; two grandchildren—Easton and Madison Ellison of Gothenburg; two step-sons—Eric Dodson and Jason Dodson of Cozad; a step-daughter, Tammy Linden and her family of Kearney; three brothers—Robert (Betty) Schroeder of Holdrege, Ben (Brenda) Schroeder and Mark (Cindy) Schroeder, all of Elm Creek; a sister, Jean (Calvin) Moore of Elm Creek; sister-in-law, Vickie Schroeder of Elm Creek; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at Gothenburg State Bank.
