Lewis was born on the family farm in Chase County near Wauneta on Nov. 12, 1943, to Elmer and Leretta (Bush) Lewis. He was the youngest of 10 children.
He attended country school through the eighth grade, and then went to high school in Wauneta graduating from Wauneta High School in 1961. He was an outstanding athlete during his high school career.
Lewis was baptized at an early age in the Wauneta Methodist Church. He worked various farm jobs in the area, later getting a job at the Beverly Elevator. It was there that he met Joanne Moncrief.
The couple married on March 21, 1964 and celebrated their 51st anniversary this year. To this union two sons were born: Anthony Quinn and Bradley Dean.
While Lewis worked on farms and ranches, the couple made their home in several towns in their married life including Ogallala, North Platte, Eddyville and Clay Center, KS. He worked with the Nebraska Department of Roads in Gothenburg working his way through the many jobs and finally retiring as the supervisor.
In 1983, the couple bought the Bowling Center in Cambridge, changing the name to Trojan Lanes, the high school mascot. Kenneth loved owning his own business for 20 years, making many friends along the way, family members said. He enjoyed each day with the bowlers in the leagues. He sold the Trojan Lanes, after having open heart surgery and could no longer keep up with the long hours due to his health.
