Kevin Lutz, 53 - January 20, 2016

Kevin Richard Lutz, 53, originally of Hastings, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, surrounded by his wife and children at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.
A celebration of life service was conducted on Saturday, Jan. 23, at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island. Interment will take place at the Plainview Cemetery at Maxwell at a later date.
Lutz was born to Keith and Alice Lutz on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 1962, at Hastings. He grew up in Hastings, blocks from Fisher Fountain, and attended Longfellow Elementary, graduating from Hastings High School.
He completed his bachelor of arts degree in communications and theater at Hastings College.
While attending college, he met his wife, Ann Louise Sukraw. The couple were married in 1984 at the First Presbyterian Church of Gothenburg. To this union, four children were born—Alexander Powers, Audrey Anne, Elizabeth Ellen and Ivy Marie. They welcomed the addition of their daughter-in-law, Mikala Ann Coates, in 2012.
Lutz enjoyed his first grandchild, Malcolm Powers, who was born in 2014, and was looking forward to the birth of his second grandchild in July, according to family members.
He was a self-described impresario, entrepreneur and humanitarian, family said. He was also a devoted husband, a loving father, home-maker, a good son and trusted brother, stated family members.
Lutz was an Eagle Scout and described as a student of life, an Eta Phi, an actor, artist and poet, a singer and a dancer as well as a businessman, a clown and comedian, a bacon-lover, a grill-master, stated family members. He was also a cinephile, a fixer-of-anything, master gardener, a restorer, house-builder, a bartender, dish-washer, set-builder and a faithful servant, good man and a friend to all.
He lived life on his own terms and did not fear death, but was anguished at the prospect of saying goodbye, the family said. He passed away with joy, merriment and song. His Irish eyes were smiling, and there was love on his lips.
Lutz was preceded in death by: his parents, Keith and Alice; his sister, Carlene; aunts and uncles, his mother-in-law, Jeanette Sukraw; his beloved dog, Winchester “Winnie.”
In addition to his immediate family, survivors include: his brothers—Garry (Carol) Lutz and Creighton (Pam) Lutz; father-in-law, Morris Sukraw; sister-in-law, Tracy Sukraw; brothers-in-law—Jason Sukraw and Nathan (Dayna) Sukraw; nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Camp Augustine, Overland Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America, 2808 O’Flannagan, Grand Island, NE 68803.
