Forrest Johnson, 82 - February 24, 2016

Forrest D. Johnson, 82, of Gothenburg, formerly of Farnam, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at his home in Gothenburg.
A celebration of life service was conducted on Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Church of the Nazarene at Farnam. A private inurnment took place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
Family members received visitors on Feb. 27 at the Evangelical Free Church of Gothenburg.
Johnson was born May 3, 1933, at Farnam, son of Fred and Judith (Isaacson) Johnson.
He grew up on a family farm south of Farnam and graduated from Farnam High School with the Class of 1951.
Johnson served his country with the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. After his discharge, he returned to Farnam.
He married Jewel Anderson on April 21, 1956, at the Svea Dal Evangelical Covenant Church near Brady. To this union, six children were born.
Johnson and his wife moved to a family farm where they resided until 1999, after which he and his wife moved to Gothenburg and operated the Resting Place Bed and Breakfast.
He always enjoyed associating with other farmers, according to family members. From 1989 until his death, he served other farmers as a crop insurance adjuster with rain and hail insurance.
Johnson was a member of the Farnam Church of the Nazarene, Gideon’s International, the American Legion and the VFW.
?He was preceded in death by: his parents, Fred and Judith; 10 siblings—Erminda Johnson, Rhoda Seay, Eugene Johnson, Virgil Johnson, Ardell Johnson, Lorena Kennicutt, Aliene Stewart, Nevin Johnson, Dora Sass, Ruby Walker and Reuben Johnson.
Survivors include: his wife, Jewel of Gothenburg; his six children—Julie (Steve) Rushing of Jacksonville, FL, Joy (Dave) Ness of Seattle, WA, Janine (Jeff) Griss of Kearney, Jerry (Teresa) Johnson of Farnam, Jamie (Stepheanie) Johnson of Gothenburg and Jill (James) Palmer of Stark City, MO; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters—Adelay Bassler of Tehachapi, CA, and Dorothy Milner of Imperial; a brother, Donald Johnson of Thousand Oaks, CA; numerous extended family members.
