Nadine Liljestrand, 89 - March 23, 2016

Nadine Edna Liljestrand, 89, of Gothenburg passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at the Gothenburg Mem­orial Hospital.
Services took place at the First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 29, with the Rev. Joel Plisek officiating. Burial was at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
Liljestrand was born Feb. 27, 1927, southwest of Brady, daughter of Edward and Ruby (Hoaglund) Janeski.
She grew up in the “South Hills” in the Moorefield area and attended school at Jeffery Queen School, then the Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis.
Liljestrand taught school at the “Craig” school for two years and then taught at Jeffery Queen.
She married Harlan Liljestrand on Aug. 3, 1947. To this union, three children were born.
Liljestrand and her husband farmed and ranched in the Gothenburg and Brady area, until retiring to Gothenburg in 1989.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the UMW and the DLC Extension Club. She also participated in a weekly quilting group and ladies group.
Liljestrand was a volunteer for the Senior Center and enjoyed writing and receiving letters and baking cinnamon rolls, according to family members.
?She was preceded in death by: her husband, Harlan Liljestrand; parents, Edward and Ruby Janeski; a brother, Darrell Janeski; son-in-law, Terry Streff; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jack Snyder; an infant brother.
Survivors include: her son, Rodney Liljestrand of Brady; her two daughters—Glenda Streff of Hastings and Gloria (Rick) Liljestrand-Barber of Littleton, CO; two brothers—Donald (Mary) Janeski and Dean Janeski; a sister, Beverly (David) Kitzing; sister-in-law, Patty Johnson; six grandchildren and five-great-grandchildren; numerous extended family members.
