Elmo Byron Hill, 88 - January 24, 2016

Elmo Byron Hill, 88, of Wheat Ridge, CO, originally of Cozad, passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at Greenridge Memory Care facility in Westminster, CO, following a lengthy illness.
Services were conducted at the Arvada Covenant Church in Arvada, CO, where he was baptized and accepted the Lord. Interment was at Crown Hill Cemetery at Wheat Ridge.
Hill was born Jan. 15, 1928, to Vern and Belle Hill at Cozad. He attended Cozad High School, while working on his parents’ farm and at the alfalfa mills.
He traveled to Maine where he joined the Coast Guard at the age of 16, serving for two years during World War II.
Hill returned to Cozad where he re-enrolled in high school. Playing football for the school earned him a football scholarship, however he chose to continue with farming, which he enjoyed his entire life, according to family members.
In 1947, he met Marilyn Louise Larson of Gothenburg. The couple were married Feb. 14, 1948.
He and his wife moved to Colorado shortly after their marriage where he began working in construction and heavy equipment operating, which he continued until his retirement in 1986. With failing health, he entered a memory care facility in January of 2015.
?Hill had enjoyed raising livestock and gardening on their acreages in the Arvada area, the family said.
He had also owned two small businesses including a fine grading business and a yeast packaging business with Coors.
Survivors include: his wife, Marilyn Hill; and his six children—Sandra Sue (Mark) Sinclair, Marsha Ann (Richard) Elliot, Rhonda Kay (Larry) Cook, Deborah Lyn (Tony) Curtis, Stephen Emery (Sally) Hill and Daren Elmo (Wendi) Hill; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
