Phyl Woodburn, 60 - April 25, 2016

Phyl Allen Woodburn, 60, of Wahoo, originally of Gothenburg, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016.
A memorial service was conducted at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd. with the Rev. Kara Hillhouse officiating. Burial took place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Woodburn was born July 9, 1955, at Gothenburg to Alfred and Irene (Helzer) Woodburn.
He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he was a member of the FarmHouse fraternity and played trumpet with the UNL marching band.
Woodburn graduated with a teaching degree in social studies from University of Nebraska at Kearney. He taught school at Yutan Public Schools for 27 years.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Alfred and Irene; a sister, Gayleen Fries.
Survivors include: his brother, Don (Vicki) Woodburn of Lincoln; a sister, Kathleen (Don) Turnquist of Hutchinson, KS; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Yutan Public Schools Foundation Scholarship Fund, 1200 2nd Street, Yutan, NE 68073.
