Lavawn McLeland, 90 - June 17, 2016

Lavawn Matilda (Sylvan) McLeland, 90, of Colorado, originally of Gothenburg, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016, at the Gardens of Columbine assisted living center in Littleton, CO.
Services were conducted at the chapel at Gardens of Columbine on June 24, with the Rev. Dr. Richard Evans officiating.
McLeland was born at Gothenburg on Dec. 8, 1925, daughter of Elias and Ella Sylvan. She grew up on a family farm northwest of Gothenburg.
She attended elementary school at School District 89 and graduated from Gothenburg High School with the Class of 1944.
After graduation, she and a girlfriend moved to Cheyenne for a short while, then on to Denver where she spent most of her life.
On May 29, 1949, she married Ernest McLeland. To this union, two sons were born.
?McLeland had devoted her time to being a good wife and mother, according to family members.
?She was preceded in death by: her husband, Ernest McLeland, Jr.; her parents, Elias and Ella Sylvan; a brother, Rodney Sylvan.
?Survivors include: her sons—Brad and Jerry (Linda) McLeland; two granddaughters—Mandy (Justin) Thomas and Angie (Domonic) Duran; a special great-granddaughter, Charlotte Duran; a sister, Mary Lou (Duane) Pearce; sister-in-law, Nancy Sylvan; nieces and extended family members.
