Frieda Scholtes, 79 - September 12, 2016

Frieda “Fritzi” (Windorfer) Scholtes, 79, of Ainsworth passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2016.
Memorial services will take place on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Assembly of God Church in Ainsworth with the Revs. Gary Graesser and Frank Williams, Jr. officiating. Inurnment will be at the Ainsworth Cemetery.
Scholtes was born Nov. 11, 1936, to Lorenz and Antonie (Rieger) Windorfer of Munich, Germany.
She was united in marriage to Luke A. Scholtes on Jan. 29, 1957. The couple met while he was stationed with the military in Germany. To this union, three children were born.
Scholtes and her husband returned to Johnstown in August of 1957 and she became a naturalized citizen in 1963.
She began her new life in the United States as a stay at home mother. She and her husband owned and operated a mechanic shop in Ainsworth for 36 years. She had also been employed at Peck’s Café, the Ainsworth Bakery and the Hen House clothing store for 10 years. She was also manager of Fritzi’s jewelry store in Ainsworth where she was widely known for helping husbands make their wives happy, according to family members.
Scholtes was a member of the VFW Auxiliary for 48 years.
?She was a giving person and enjoyed her kids, grandkids, family and friends as well as her home, yard work and gardening, said the family. She also loved cooking her special German food for others.
?Scholtes was preceded in death by: her husband of 49 years, Luke A. Scholtes; her father and mother, Lorenz and Antonie Windorfer; step-father, Thomas Meilinger; a sister, Marilla Ecker; brothers—Andy Windorfer and Christian Windorfer.
Survivors include: her sons—Charles E. (Julie) Scholtes of Lincoln and James D. (Susan) Scholtes of Ainsworth; her daughter, Lori L. (Chris) Onstad of Manhattan, KS; sisters—Katharina Berringer of Munich, Fini Sulzenbacher of Italy and Ingrid Schneider of Germany; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
