Mark Hoselton, 76 - September 16, 2009
Mark F. Hoselton, 76, of Cozad died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 24, at the Victory Assembly Church of Gothenburg with the Rev. Mark Borchardt officiating.
Hoselton was born Oct. 9, 1932, at Oconto to Richard and Ethel (Tullis) Hoselton. The family moved to Cozad in 1933 where he grew up, graduating from Cozad High School in 1950.
He studied the trades of construction and building with Lee Whitehead in the early 1950s. He was employed with Paulsen Co. and later Howell Lumber Co. as assistant manager before starting his own construction company.
In 1952, he married Donna Knaggs of Lexington.
Hoselton became a real estate salesman in the late 1960s and earned his broker’s license in 1975. He and his wife owned and operated Silver Bell Realty in Cozad for over 20 years.
He was an avid hunter and sportsman, enjoyed life and loved to laugh, according to family members. He enjoyed stamp collecting, leather tooling, writing poetry and songs as well as camping and playing pool.
Hoselton also enjoyed music, playing the steel guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, acoustic guitar and harmonica, and was also learning to play the harp, said family members. He and his wife played for dances and care homes over the years. He was also active in getting the Grand Generation Center built.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Richard and Ethel; and two infant sons.
Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Donna Hoselton of Cozad; three sons—Bruce Hoselton of Albuquerque, NM, Dan (Jeanne) Hoselton of Juniata, and Bryan Hoselton of Oskaloosa, IA; a brother, Dick Hoselton of Emerson, IA; eight grandchildren—Matt, Ryan, Jessica, Luke, Colt, Nathan, Emily and Caleb; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to donor’s choice.
