Roger Booth, 82 - February 07, 2017

Roger Lee Booth, 82, of Lexington died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at Cozad Care and Rehabilitation Center.
A memorial celebration of life service was conducted on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Polly Deppen-Williams officiating. Inurnment took place at 2 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
Booth was born Sept. 6, 1934, at Loup City to Ernest and Lucille (Anderson) Booth. He attended school in Brady where he graduated with the Class of 1952.
He was united in marriage to Sharon Owings at Gothenburg. To this union, four children were born. The family resided at Brady, then Broken Bow and settled at Lexington in 1971.
Booth was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Korean Conflict.
He was employed as an independent insurance broker his entire career as well as an investment advisor.
Booth was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
He loved playing golf, following the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and as a young man, participated in rodeos for a time. The most important part of his life was his family and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him much joy, according to family members.
?Booth was preceded in death by: his parents, Ernest and Lucille; stepfather, Harvey Silsby; an infant brother, Douglas; three brothers-in-law—Wayne Gronewold, Roger Anderson and Robert Lessig.
?Survivors include: his wife, Sharon Booth of Lexington; a son, Todd (Kim) Booth of Lexington; three daughters—Terri Rung of LaCrosse, WI, DeeAnn (Shane) Sage of Lexington and Deb (Tim) Holbrook of Philadelphia, PA; a brother, Harold (Elizabeth) Booth of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Elizabeth (Rick) Schmidt of Omaha; sisters-in-law—Delores Gronewold of Gothenburg, Marlene Anderson of Kearney and Sherrill Lessig of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren—Daniel, Alyse (Michael), Katie (Jonathan), Morgan, Emilee (Michael), Ty, Catherine, Abby (Trevor), Cassidy, Madison and Brendan; nine great-grandchildren—Skylar, Chase, Cayd, Cinch, Cohen, Lilee, Swayzee, Rope and Brecken; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
