Jeff Bargholz, 59 - February 25, 2017


Jeff Thomas Bargholz, 59, of Kearney, son of Patricia Thompson of Gothenburg, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at CHI Good Samaritan Health in Kearney.
Graveside services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 6, at Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, CA, lain to rest along side his father at the Fireman’s Circle.
Bargholz was born June 1, 1957, at San Diego, the son of Clarence and Patricia (Kase) Bargholz.
In 1974, after his mother married Paul Thompson of Gothenburg, he moved to Nebraska, residing a short time in North Platte where he attended school earning his high school certificate.
He later moved to Ord where he lived independently for 25 years under the care of Mid Nebraska Developmental Services. He then moved to Kearney in 2011 as a resident of Developmental Services of Nebraska (DSN) until his passing, where the staff and other residence became his second family who he truly enjoyed and dearly loved, according to family members.
Bargholz was employed at various jobs throughout the years, but one of his favorites was his paper route, the family stated. He also loved fishing and enjoyed it anytime he could go.
?His robust laugh, love for teasing others and his direct opinions will be sincerely missed by those who knew him, said family members.
?Bargholz was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Bargholz.
Survivors include: his mother and step-father, Paul and Patricia Thompson of Gothenburg; his sister, Jodi (Keith) Carlson of Gothenburg; a half-sister, Dorrie Umlauf of Reno, NV; step-sister, Dianne Thompson of Cleveland, OH; step-brother, Richard Thompson of Detroit, MI; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the family for designation in purchasing a memorial bench in his honor. The bench will be donated to the residence at DSN in Kearney.
