Dollie Poggendorf, 81 - July 01, 2017

Dollie Mae Poggendorf, 81, of Cheyenne Wells, CO, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017, at her home.
Services were conducted on Thursday, July 6, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Cheyenne Wells with the Rev. Bill Viergutz officiating. Burial was at Fort McPherson National Cemetery on Friday, July 7, near Maxwell.
Poggendorf was born Dec. 25, 1935, to William and Augusta (Schmidt) Unruh at Montezuma, KS. She was one of 10 children born to this union.
She attended Ingalls Rural High School and graduated at Garden City, KS, in 1953.
On Sept. 12, 1954, she married Paul Poggendorf at Garden City. To this union, four children were born.
During her life, she was an amazing support to her husband in their years of farm life, from feeding the harvest crew to doing the chores, according to family members.
Poggendorf was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Cheyenne Wells. The Lutheran Church in Gothenburg was also a big part of her earlier life, where she was also a member of the Anniversary Club of Gothenburg. Spending time at the senior centers also brought hours of joy to her, the family said.
?Some of her favorite pastimes were gardening, sewing and crocheting.
?She was preceded in death by: her parents, William and Augusta; her husband, Paul; brothers—Larry, Edward, Lee, Allen and Waldo.
Survivors include: her children—Wesley (Julie) Poggendorf of Elwood, Sandra (Greg) of Sacramento, CA, Carol (Brad) of Arapahoe, CO, and Jerry Poggendorf of Phoenix, AZ; three brothers—Dale Unruh of Texas, Raymond (Damaris) Unruh of Kansas and Lester (Verla) Unruh of Florida; a sister, Betty Mick of West Virginia; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
