Gerald Shadduck, 89 - August 24, 2017

Gerald LeRoy Shadduck, 89, of Lexington passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington.
Services took place on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with the Rev. Anne Gahn officiating. Interment with Military Honors was at the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Shadduck was born Aug. 19, 1928, at Belleville, KS, to Millard B. and Mary K. (Heater) Shadduck.
He was employed in construction and then worked for the railroad prior to serving his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 30, 1952.
On Aug. 20, 1956, he was united in marriage to Bethel J. Runyun at North Platte, and welcomed her two children.
Shadduck and his family resided at Lexington where he was employed as a lineman and equipment technician for Dawson Public Power for 37 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the VFW, and enjoyed boating, fishing and camping, according to family members. One of his favorite hobbies was playing pool at the Vet’s Club with his buddies every afternoon at 4 p.m. He really never knew a stranger, loved to visit with others and was known as a nice guy.
?Shadduck was preceded in death by: his parents, Millard and Mary; his wife, Bethel; grandsons—Charles and Ray Eldridge; sisters—Lois and Roberta; brothers—Adron and Richard.
Survivors include: his stepchildren—Betty (Bill) Slack of Brady and Charles (Marilyn) Jenkins of Radcliffe, KY; two sisters—Margaret Duffey of Smith Center, KS, and Joyce (Marvin) Pappe of Belleville, KS; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to Plum Creek Healthcare Community.
