Ruth Miller, 91 - April 07, 2018


Ruth May Miller, 91, of Gothenburg, died April 7, 2018, in Gothenburg. She was born Oct. 28, 1926, in Farnam, daughter of Earl and May (Murray) Smallfoot.
Ruth grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High with the class of 1945. She married Earl Miller on May 16, 1947 at Lexington, and they moved to a farm north of Gothenburg. Ruth was a busy farm wife and mother; raising their four children—Diane, Sally, Jerry and Kenneth. After many years on the farm, they retired to Gothenburg in 1982. Earl passed away just three days after their 58th wedding anniversary.
Ruth was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She spent many hours quilting and baking. She loved to read and care for her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Sally (Allen) Anderson of Norfolk; two sons—Jerry Miller of Cozad, and Kenneth (Mary) Miller of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Harold Fox; two sisters-in-law, Edna Long and Marie Miller; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grand children; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Miller; daughter, Diane Janssen; her parents, Earl and May Smallfoot; aunt, Edna Peterson; brothers-in-law, Anton Miller and George Miller, Jr.; brothers, Dale and Dean Smallfoot; sister, Ruby Fox;sister-in-law, Donna Miller; daughters-in-law, Penny Miller and Annette Miller; and granddaughter, Tami Renee.
Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Gothenburg on Thursday, April 12, with Pastor Carol Mapa officiating. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Gothenburg.
