Willard Folsom, 64 - June 18, 2008
Willard “Bill” S. Folsom, 64, of California, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at Mills-Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, CA.
A memorial service was held on June 12 at the Episcopal Church of St. Matthew at San Mateo, CA.
Folsom was born on Jan. 30, 1944, at Sioux Falls, SD, to Willard W. and Barbara Folsom.
He grew up at Lincoln where he graduated from Southeast High School. He then attended Westminster College in Fulton, MO, and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a bachelor of science degree in business.
Folsom also received a master’s degree in finance from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA, and was an employee with United Airlines for 36 years.
During his earlier years, he enjoyed racing cars and was a member of the Sports Car Club of America.
He was also a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, the Olympic Country Club and Coyote Point Yacht Club.
Folsom spent his retirement years traveling the world in the interest of his hobby, which was collecting rare single malt scotches.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Willard W. and Barbara; a brother, James Folsom of Denver, CO.
Survivors include: his wife of 42 years, Roxie Mann Folsom; a son, Willard “Bill” M. Folsom of Fremont, CA; a daughter, Laura (Michael) Dierks; three granddaughters—Ashlyn, Ainsley and Alyssa of Papillion; sister, Susan (Arden) Krugerud of Denver; nephew, Scott (Jennifer) Krugerud and children—Libby and Max.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Northern California Diabetes Institute at Sequoia and Seton, Whipple and Alameda, Redwood City, CA 94061, or Mills-Peninsula Hospital Foundation, 1783 El Camino Real, Burlingame, CA 94010.
