Delores Barnes, 69 - December 12, 2007
Delores A. Barnes, 69, of North Platte died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at her home.
Services were held Dec. 8 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with the Ken Sawyer officiating. Burial took place at the Hillcrest Cemetery at Thedford.
Barnes was born on May 26, 1938, to Harry and Tracy Abraham Elliott at Thedford.
She was united in marriage to Myron W. Barnes on Sept. 15, 1957, at Thedford. The couple had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Barnes worked as a postmaster at Brownlee for 10 years and was later employed by Wal-Mart as a cake decorator.
She loved her family and took delight in making birthday, graduation and wedding cakes for her loved ones, and she enjoyed cooking for people, according to family members.
Barnes was preceded in death by: her father, Harry Elliott; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Earl and Alice Barnes; a great-grandson, Frankie Ruiz.
Survivors include: her husband, Myron of North Platte; her mother, Tracy Elliott of Thedford; five children—Randy (Roberta) Barnes of Halsey, Wyatt (Kelli) Barnes of Brady, Julie Parks of Emporia, KS, Mark (Jaime) Barnes of Billings, MT, and Vickie (Don) Trisdale of Brady; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four brothers—Bill (Connie) Elliott of Thedford, Ronnie (Virginia) Elliott of Valentine, Loren Elliott of Mullen and Wayne (Merrianne) Elliott of Cozad; sister-in-law, Josephine (John Paul) Morris of Thedford.
