Eleanor Nelson, 90 - November 28, 2007
Eleanor D. Nelson, 90, of Gothenburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at Gothenburg Long Term.
Services were held on Monday, Nov. 26, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Larry Viter and Rick Rehmert officiating. Burial was at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Nelson was born Oct. 23, 1917, in Lincoln County to Ralph and Anna Ohlson Helberg.
She attended school at Hazel Dell School in Custer County and graduated from Callaway High School in 1935.
On Jan. 2, 1940, she was united in marriage to Elvin A. Nelson at Lexington. They couple made their home at Tallin Table and later moved to Callaway and then to Gothenburg in 1952.
Nelson moved to Gothenburg Long Term in 2002.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Ralph and Anna; stepmother, Grace Gray Helberg; her husband, Elvin; three brothers and sisters-in-law—Roland (Beulah) Helberg, Lloyd (Delores) Helberg and Stanley (Donna) Helberg.
?Survivors include: a son, Rand E. Nelson of Benson, AZ; a daughter, Pamela (Ray) Slack of Gothenburg; three grandchildren—Lori (Lee) Matingly of Gig Harbur, WA, Lincoln Nelson of Aurora, CO, and Elvin Slack of Sheridan, WY; three great-grandchildren—Mathew Matingly, Mary Beyerle and Sadie Slack; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters—Annable (Jim) Kubicka of Windsor, CA, and Cora (Morris) Devine of Gothenburg; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to Gothenburg Long Term or donor’s choice.
