Etta Gilmore, 91 - November 07, 2007
Etta F. Ward Gilmore, 91, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.
Services were held on Monday, Nov. 5, at Morell Funeral Home at Larned, KS. Burial took place at Farmington Cemetery at Macksville.
Gilmore was born on June 24, 1916, near Macksville, the daughter of Albert and Myrtle Evans Wilson.
On June 10, 1933, she was united in marriage to C.J. “Jack” Ward at Macksville. He died July 19, 1978.
On April 4, 1986, she married Glen Gilmore at Larned. He died June 29, 2001.
She was a resident of Larned from 1969 until 2002, when she moved to Gothenburg to be with family.
Gilmore was a retired food service worker at the Larned State Hospital.
She was a member of the Ft. Larned Lions Club, Good Sam’s and the Welcome Inn Seniors, all of Larned.
Gilmore was an avid bowler and enjoyed the sport, according to family members.
She was preceded in death by: two infant sons—Robert and Ronald; a brother, James Wilson; seven sisters—Eula Dibble, Hazel, Ella Wilson, Velma Wilkerson, Ethel Kell, Bertha White and Laura Love.
Survivors include: two sons—Dwayne Ward of Boise, ID, and Wesley Ward of Louisville, CO; three daughters—Marietta Miller and Carol Cheetsos, both of Gothenburg, and Donna Sever of Modesto, CA; 14 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren.
