James Garrelts, 65 - August 15, 2007
James Lawrence Garrelts, 65, of Utah, formerly of Gothenburg, died Aug. 9, 2007.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT, where the family will greet friends and family from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m.
A private interment will be held at Myers Evergreen Cremation Gardens.
Garrelts was born on July 28, 1942, at Gothenburg to Lawrence and Laura (Gronewold) Garrelts, the youngest of four children.
He graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1960.
On July 16, 1963, he was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Hood, who died in 1977.
Garrelts married Carol Ann Peterson on Aug. 26, 1999.
He owned and operated several landscaping companies in Nebraska and Utah. He retired from landscaping in 1999 and went into business making lodge-pole furniture until 2005.
Garrelts was generous with a quiet demeanor and enjoyed woodworking, landscaping, gardening, bowling, crafts and riding his trike, with a sense of humor, according to family members.
?He was preceded in death by: his parents, Lawrence and Laura; his first wife, Virginia in 1977.
?Survivors include: his wife, Carol; stepchildren—Bobby Fraga and Shawn Fraga; children and grandchildren—James M. Garrelts of Cedar City, UT, Mark (Maria) Garrelts and children Philip, Cory and Nikki of Simi Valley, CA, Mindy (Rich) Keller and children Curtis, Jeromy and Jayce of Brigham City, UT; sisters—Jeanette Kandler of Michigan, Glenda (Charles) Crate of Missouri and Carolyn (Larry) Gering of Nebraska; brother-in-law, Roger (Paula) Hood of Nebraska; 12 nieces and nephews.
